Investment memorandum / 01

Scattr brings laboratory-grade blood analysis to the point of care by replacing optical complexity with computational speckle interferometry.

Technical insight

Conventional blood analysis depends on diffraction gratings, refrigerated transport, and large benchtop instruments. Scattr uses a single 650nm laser diode to pass coherent light through a fluid sample and records the resulting scatter pattern on an un-lensed consumer image sensor.

Its compact spatial neural networks solve the inverse phase-retrieval problem in real time. Cellular deformation, protein aggregation, and viral load are inferred directly from noisy optical interference, moving the precision into software and the result to the patient.
