Investment memorandum / 02

Tessalt converts uncatalogued cultural fragments into standardized 3D passports, then discovers joins across institutions by geometry and negative space.

Technical insight

Museums and excavations hold millions of uncatalogued fragments across isolated storerooms. Traditional fracture matching depends on industrial CT or structured-light metrology systems that are expensive, immobile, and operator intensive.

Tessalt combines a calibrated direct-drive turntable with pose-conditioned multi-view depth inference. It captures 48 indexed viewpoints across two orientation passes, then feeds measured camera poses and fiducial scale markers into Depth Anything 3 on on-demand cloud GPUs.

Each fragment becomes a searchable Fragment Passport. Fast 3D surface retrieval narrows the candidates; geometric seam verification, graph optimization, and negative-space search then identify possible joins across global collections without moving fragile objects.
